Stopmotion Workshops
this and next week there are two great workshops about stopmotion animation:
May 11-12-13 / 12:00-18:00 / A 3 day workshop in stopmotion animation with Michael Schmacke / 60€ fee / Neukölln
On the first day you will see some examples of stopmotion films and you will learn about basic skills in animation techniques. Then you model your protagonist, while listening to the beat, which the videoclip will visualise. The “dolls” dont have to be human, anything moving nicely to the beat will be welcome. The sets will be started to build, too. You can sing some phrases to the beat and record it, to let your protagonist sing to the beat later on!
The second day we will perfect your doll and the sets will become proper. Bluescreen can be used.
Two teams will be build for the shooting and then it starts!. The dolls start to dance and sing to the beat, things are happening, i.e. psychedelic patterns in the sky , all parallel to the waveforms of the sound file.
the third day will be for shooting the film. you will shoot a lot of rhythmical loops, which means less work.
A one minute musical video clip will be the result.
I am looking forward to innovative and experimental ideas.
There will be FIMO modeling clay, feel free to bring some.

May 19 / 14:00-18:00 / STOP MOTION FILM workshop with Gloria G. / 30€ fee / Kreuzberg
Always found animation through stop motion technique cool? I’m going to share with you the fundamental knowledge of how to create a stop motion film and then we’re going to create one with our own hands and parting from our own ideas.
We can work with objects as well as with cut outs from magazines, so if you have something at home you are welcome to bring it- there will also be lots of interesting stuff here already. We’re going to use analogue technique, that doesn’t need any computer programme animation like after effects. You can therefore also redo it with your own photocamera at home.
You may also bring your musical instruments to create a tune for the clip!
The best thing: we’re going to do it collectively and in only one afternoon!
It shall be fun!
The workshop will be held in our collective atelier space in Kreuzberg.
