interactive introduction

Oktober 2005 - I graduated my study in November 2004, went to India for the first time, came back to Hamburg 4 months later, moved to Berlin and needed to find a job ... I started guteMedien because that's what I somehow want to work with, goodMedia, and I made this interactive application DVD.

guteMedien icast

August - December 2006 - I started a video podcast, an interactive videopodcast, I called it icast. Technically it was a Quicktime movie with an overlayed Flash layer that allowed interactive elements within the video frame. Three shows like this were produced. In each icast show I introduced three artists or projects and presented their (good)media in a separate icast file, linked by an overlay button in the menu video appearing when I talk about it. The virtual studio was a greenscreen teabox. In December 2006 Apple deactivated Quicktime's Flash support with QT version 7.3.1 so that icasts were no longer working and were therefore taken offline. The feed is still on and some icast separations, the ones that are pure video with no flash are still available through feedburner / iTunes (I still haven't started yet to rebuild them in Flash only ... but maybe sometime ...!)

February 2007 - Having been fully employed the whole year 2006 I took my three weeks holliday in a row and went back to India for this rediculous short time. Went to Auroville to reactivate my Bullet, took off to Kerala with it, back to Auroville, Chennai, flight ... and wooosh, back to the other world, back to my job. I filmed quite a lot in these three weeks, but without real concept, so back in Berlin I took the highlights and put them into 12 x 10sec Loops and wrapped the indian loop player around it.

Pretty much around then I got to know the  freaks.

They were preparing the DMY 2007 participation. The indian loop player was present in form of a low-fi video installation.

 

 

guteMedien TAXI

July - October 2007 - Right after quitting my last job, I bought a Ford Courier, installed a second battery for electronics, a simple sleeping option and named it guteMedien TAXI. I took off to Croatia, went to the Sarajevo Filmfestival, back north to Zagreb, Vienna, Linz, Zürich, Rheinfall, Germany, Netherlands and back to Berlin. Two month travelling, shooting, editing and uploading more than 40 video posts. On the search of good media. Most content in the blog is GERMAN though ...

guteMedien postcast

May 2008 untill today - I took off again. Back to Auroville. But this time I wanted to go overland. Since going with the guteMedien TAXI would have been too costly, I sold it and went by bus and train - due to financial reasons only from Istanbul though, Berlin-Istanbul was covered by a cerosine bomber. On my way, mainly in Iran and Pakistan, I again filmed, edited and uploaded found stuff and this time called it postcast - broadcasting multimedia postcards. Some short loops, some 3-5 minutes minimovies, photos and photo-audio sequences. All minimovies are available in iPod quality through iTunes / RSS.

Thanx to Grandmaster Flux the site worx the way it does!

 

 

THE ECLIPSE TRIP - a fully random movie

August 2009 - Now settled in Auroville this was my first short holliday from here. Going north with four friends to see the full solar eclipse on July 22nd. Published in 9 episodes on postcast. The randomDVD of it is out now!

Mutation in Progress - Video Installation

August 2010 - This video is part of a collaborative art project in Auroville dealing with the topic of mutation. Video made by Christoph, sculptures by Marie-Claire and dance performance by Ana.

Is actual world chaos a necessary step to a new humanity ?
As for the imaginative cells that will induce the butterfly to appear in the cocoon, the state of the caterpillar as primordial pulp is compulsory…

At first in this artistic experiment, breaking the sculptures as a symbolic gesture of the detachment the artist has to reach to move towards a new creation is an illustration of this metaphor.
Then the gathering between these 5 complementary skills in a collective process where each one is interpreting the allegory in an unknown field where playing and letting go flirt together with only one goal: enjoying the process itself…

brainfever media productions

May 2011: I started a unit in Auroville and called it brainfever media productions.

It is to produce professional digital audio-visual media

Brainfever is the name of a very common bird here, having a unique call, described on wikipedia as loud, repetitive three note calls that are well-rendered as brain-fever, the second note being longer and higher pitched. These notes rise to a crescendo before ending abruptly and repeat after a few minutes, the calling may go on through the day, well after dusk and before dawn.

Actually you can hear a brainfever calling somewhere in the background in almost every video shot here…
